Necrotic bacterial cystitis due to infection with a multiresistent strain of Escherichia coli, in a 1-year-old cat. The bladder wall was made fragile by a severe chronic inflammatory lesion (image on the right) that has resulted in bladder rupture during catheterization. The mucosa is intensely congested. Histological analysis revealed profound mucosal necrosis. The mucosa is covered with a brownish material.
